The Baytones Harmony Chorus are a women’s A Cappella Chorus, singing in the Barbershop style.  They are a not-for-profit organization who have been entertaining audiences in North Bay and area for almost 47 years. Director Heather Gardner holds practices at St. Andrew’s United Church every Wednesday evening 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., from September until June.  All women are welcome to join and encouraged to come out and learn our delightful style of music.

The D.A.A.Y. Centre’s transportation service is available to anyone in need in the community, with priority for bookings going to the Centre’s membership core. Their new vehicle will come equipped with Disabled-friendly options such as Wheelchair Accessibility and safety devices.  All drivers have been instructed to ensure the safety and comfort of their passengers with disabilities. You are invited to share in a Free Evening of Education with the Heritage Gardeners, presented by one of our own Heritage Gardeners, Carol Gough.  If you are planning on making changes to your front yard this year, this session will provide you with ideas to get you started.

A Master Gardener will be on hand to answer any gardening or plant related questions that you may have. All of our education nights are free but donations are always welcome. Participants may also wish to participate in the twoonie raffle in support of Heritage Gardeners.

Habitat for Humanity North Bay Blue Sky Region

The dedication for Habitat for Humanity North Bay Blue Sky Region’s newest home will take place at our newly constructed home at 800 John Street at 2:00 pm on Sun, Dec 4, 2011. The home will be dedicated to the memory of Judy Shea, a well known North Bay Lawyer and long time Habitat supporter and Volunteer. North Bay resident Kirsten Simpson and her family, are eagerly anticipating moving into their new home built with the generous support of the local community, our Habitat contractor and countless volunteers. Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing has partnered with Nipissing University’s Women’s Centre for the Take Back the Night rally to take place on October 27th.

The Women’s Own Resource Centre

(WORC) has launched the fall session of it’s ROPE (Rural Outreach Program Endeavor) with Entrepreneurial Training Sessions beginning October 4th , noon to 2 p.m., at the Northern Lights Employment Centre in Burk’s Falls and Thursday October 6th, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Women’s Own Resource Centre in South River. Sessions are free, run for 10 weeks,  with access to travel and childcare funds when necessary.

2 hour seminars that help participants assess the resources available for building balanced healthy lifestyles will also be offered. The first is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th, 4 – 6 p.m. in Burk’s Falls at the Northern Lights Employment Centre. This workshop is orientated towards social service workers and/or those in the health care field.
